High up in the mountains is not necessarily where you’d first think of for fantastic culinary discoveries, however LURA has put together this ‘must-dine’ list of gastronomic delights for you to experience on your winter escape.
SanBrite, Cortina
In local Ampezzo dialect, "San" means healthy and the name was chosen to reflect the idea of a healthy farmhouse with a traditional kitchen, like that of the Gaspari Family, purveyors of local food traditions in Cortina since 2004. Attached to a renowned dairy with a vegetable garden out front, the ambition of this beautiful restaurant is to reinterpret traditional mountain cuisine in a contemporary way. Beautifully crafted by chef Riccardo Gaspari you’ll be sure of a masterclass in farm to plate.
Swiss Stübli at The Alpina, Gstaad
Set in the glorious setting of The Alpina, Gstaad, the Swiss Stübli restaurant is the very embodiment of Alpine spirit. After a long day of hiking or skiing in the Swiss mountains, relax and indulge in some local specialities among rustic carved wood panelling, warm lighting and a welcoming atmosphere. Traditional Swiss dishes such as raclette and fondue are served with a touch of modernity, accompanied by an excellent selection of champagne, perfect to pair with your favourite fromage.
French Alpine Bistro, Aspen
Situated in Crêperie du Village, French Alpine Bistro is a foodie haven right in the heart of Aspen. As the restaurant name suggests, the menu is a menagerie of French alpine favourites including fondue, raclette and sweet and savoury crepes. With family heirlooms adorning the walls and soft sheepskins dressing the comfy chairs, the vibe of the interior is warm and cosy, with a roaring fire and crackling candlelight. With stunning views of the mountains and friendly service, French Alpine Bistro is the perfect destination to relax after an action-packed day on the Elk Mountain Range.
Javri Lodge, Lapland
Once a winter retreat for Finland’s president, this log cabin on the outskirts of Saariselka in Lapland has been transformed into a luxurious boutique hotel, with an exquisite restaurant in the centre of it all. With a menu that changes daily, it reflects both seasonality and availability, and is determined by the organic ingredients delivered by the local trusted and reliable gatherers, fishermen, reindeer herders and hunters. Flocons de Sel, Megève

Covered in deep French Alpine snow, this place sets a new record for most remote and most naturally beautiful restaurant experience one could hope for, and the food and service matched that perfection.
Kamimura, Niseko
Niseko Mountains are blessed not only with endless powder snow in the winter but also a thriving dining scene, the jewel in this crown being Kamimura. An iconic, Michelin-starred French restaurant with an intimate and elegant atmosphere, it’s a restaurant not to be missed on your winter adventures. While the cuisine served at Kamimura is of French inspiration, the chef sources its ingredients from different parts of Hokkaido, from seafood to wagyu beef, cheese, fruits and vegetables, with the quality of ingredients of paramount importance.
El Paradiso Mountain Club, St. Moritz
Located at 2,181 metres above sea level at the outer side of the Suvretta-Corviglia ski resort, El Paradiso is perched high up in the mountains, an oasis in St. Moritz. It’s not just the stunning views and expansive sun deck that make it the ideal place to while away the day, but the food is too good to say no to. With local dishes combined with French and Italian influences plus an expansive fondue menu, the hardest part of your day will be choosing what not to have!
Six Peaks Grille, Tahoe
For Lake Tahoe fine dining, indulge in innovative dishes prepared with distinct local ingredients at Six Peaks Grille. Focusing on sustainability and quality, the herbs and vegetables are all from the on-site hydroponic garden and the meat and seafood is locally sourced. La Cravia, Ushuaia
The La Cravia restaurant offers haute cuisine in an ideal setting whether you are enjoying a delicious breakfast to start the day or dinner after a hike in the nearby mountains or a long day of skiing. The restaurant benefits from spectacular views the Beagle Channel, Ushuaia bay and the Martial and Vinciguerra mountain ranges which make for a perfect setting to dine.
