Portugal – Douro Valley

A Unesco World Heritage site since 2001, the Douro is a majestic wilderness famous for the port and vinho verde (green wine) it produces but there is so much more to this magical part of Portugal. With jaw-dropping train rides, boat, kayak and hiking trips there’s plenty to keep you entertained. Set high in the hills of the Douro Valley is a renovated and reimagined 19th-century manor house, home to the Six Senses Resort. Thoughtfully designed with a nod to a bygone era, you will feel a million miles away from civilisation, but the town of Porto and all its amenities are within easy reach. At the northern point of the valley sits Vidago Palace, a grand, candy pink palace that was built for the King in 1910. Known for its mineral-rich thermal waters, the hotel has an impeccable spa offering with a wide range of services and treatments offered. A perfect place for ultimate relaxation in this gorgeous part of Portugal.
